This is a very pure equity income funds, and will only buy individual shares with higher yields, and applies a strict discipline to sell when the yield falls below the benchmark.  In common with most such funds it underperformed the index in 2007, but the yield, some way in excess of 4%, and with scope for growth in this income, makes it particularly attractive.  

This sort of medium risk fund, with a strong yield underpin, is definitely a long term core holding, both for growth and income investors.
