Update 9th December 2011: If you sort the table by ‘One year cumulative value’ and order by ‘Best Performing’ you can glance along the row to see performance over various periods. What we are looking for is consistency of performance.

This sector has taken a battering in the last 6 months as the EU sovereign debt issues grab headlines. The outcome of the latest Eurozone summits has merely disappointing rather than apocalyptic. The “grand plan” is a whole load of words reflecting a middling version of what had already been discussed in prior weeks. Expect market volatility to continue in the months ahead. 

Previously Blackrock European Dynamic and Invesco Perpetual European Opportunities were top performers over 1 year, but the former is still recovering from losses incurred over the summer while the latter has struggled over 1 month. By contrast Threadneedle European Select looks impressive over all 3 timeframes.
