European Smaller Companies
Update 1st December 2009: If you sort on the last months performance, glance along the row of the top performers to see how they have performed over long periods – you are looking for consistency and you can clearly see this in the case of the Henderson European Smaller Companies and Invesco Perpetual European Smaller Companies.
As you can see in the monthly risk column, the amount by which this measure suggests your fund could fall in most months is quite high, usually in excess of 10% (in contrast to under 2% for many bond funds). On the other hand, when this sector is doing well, it can do very well indeed – remember that risk and reward go hand in hand.
